I'm going to admit something that may destroy my credibility before it's even established. I did not even realize Fidel Castro was still the president of Cuba. I'm not sure what I was really thinking as to who it would be; but for some reason I had it in my head that Castro was much more ancient than present time.

Castro, to me, is more during the Cuban Missile crisis; a time when I wasn't born yet and a topic I learned about in history class. I suppose my thoughts were that when Kennedy was assassinated, Castro's reign also ended.

The announcement was made this morning (Feb. 19) in Cuba as a letter from Castro was read over radio and television sets about his resignation. The reason is due to illness that he has been battling for a while now. Castro's term was one of the longest in history.
